The Section bowl was designed by Herman Studio — the Copenhagen architecture duo Helle Herman Mortensen and Jonas Herman Pedersen — for Danish brand Form & Refine. It is made from oak offcuts left over from the production of their Shoemaker Chair, which means every bowl begins its life as the material another object left behind. The carved ring on the outer edge is the only decoration, and it does real work: it catches the grain and makes the wood’s character the point.

It sits on a counter the way a good object should — quietly, without asking for attention, but always noticed. Large enough for fruit, small enough to carry. Form & Refine was founded on the premise that materials should be chosen carefully and made to last. The Section bowl is that premise made physical.
